Matthew Carnegie Blackshear, of Syracuse, New York, born on August 20, 1979, passed away on September 9, 2026. Matthew’s life was one that touched the hearts of his family, friends, and all those fortunate enough to know him.
Matthew will be remembered for his love of family, friends, Syracuse University, fishing and the Dallas Cowboys. His presence brought a unique combination of friendship, laughter, joy and goodwill to those around him, and the memories created throughout his life will remain a treasured part of his family’s story. Throughout his life, Matthew valued family, honesty, service, humor and compassion. He had a special way of relating to anyone and never met a stranger, and those who knew him will remember him for his sense of humor, intellect and fun-loving nature.
Matthew leaves to cherish his memory his wife Stephanie Marie, two sons, Vance and Benjaimen, sisters, Nicole Shaw (Nate) of Atlanta, GA, of Reshana Blackshear of Syracuse, NY and a brother, Ralph Blackshear lll,of Syracuse, NY . He was preceded in death by his parents, Ralph Blackshear Jr and mother Evelyn Owens. He also leaves to mourn his passing a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces , nephews and friends.
While Matthew’s passing brings profound sadness, his life will be remembered with love and gratitude. The impact he made on those around him cannot be measured simply by the years he lived, but by the relationships he built, the memories he created, and the love he shared.
A celebration of Matthew’s life will be held on September 19, 2026 at 11:00 am in the morning
at Four Square Gospel C.O.G.I.C in Syracuse, New York. Family and friends are invited to gather together to honor his life, share memories, and offer comfort to one another.
