Matthew Logan McGill, 27, of Parish passed away January 22, 2026 surrounded by family after a courageous battle against cancer.
Logan was born in Syracuse, NY on September 3, 1998 to Matthew McGill and Carol Dwyer. Logan took great pride in his work at SUNY Upstate where he began as a Certified Pharmacy Technician and advanced to Pharmacy Purchaser. Logan is remembered as being compassionate and caring, always helping others before himself. He encouraged others around him to see the world as bright as he saw. Logan loved traveling to Park City Utah, Las Vegas and going on cruises. Logan’s greatest trip of all time was when our family was chosen to be the Grand Marshal in Magic Kingdom at Walt Disney World. Growing up Logan made many memories hiking with friends and accomplished 23 out of 46 of the high peaks. During his free time, Logan enjoyed shopping, cleaning and playing UNO with friends and family.
Matthew Logan was predeceased by his paternal grandparents, Rev. Harland “Pops” McGill and Ruth Irene McGill; grandmother, Lenore Hoxie. He is survived by his parents Matthew H. (Denise) McGill, Carol (Sean) Dwyer; older brother, Matthew Nicholas McGill, and twin brother, Matthew Devin (Adrianna) McGill; nephew, Maverick McGill; maternal grandparents, Harold and Eleanor Kinney; grandmother, Lynn Dwyer; several step-siblings; several aunts, uncles and cousins. Surviving Logan is his beloved dog, Murphy.
Calling Hours will take place Thursday, January 29, 2026, from 4-7pm at Northside Church in Liverpool. Private funeral services for the family will be held at a later time.
Logan’s family would like to express their sincere gratitude to Dr. Seth and the staff at Upstate Cancer Center as well as 10E inpatient Oncology for going above and beyond to provide comfort and care to Logan throughout his battle and final days.
