Michael Layton

Michael Layton, 62, passed away leaving a legacy of deep love and laughter. A proud elevator mechanic, Mike began his trade in 1983 and retired from IUEC Local 62 in January 2026.

Above all, Mike was a devoted "girl dad and grandfather whose pride and joy were his family. They will forever treasure memories of riding minibikes and sharing diner milkshakes. A self-proclaimed hermit who loved a quiet deck coffee by the water, Mike was also famous for greeting neighbors with a cheerful "Happy Day!" before pulling his signature Irish exit.

He is survived by his daughters, Jenny-Lynn and Kerrianne; granddaughters, Langston, Ehthena, and Auden (with grandson Lucca on the way); parents, Kathy Rowland and Edward Layton; and siblings, Joanne, Daniel, and Patrick. The family extends sincere gratitude to the Upstate Cardiac Care team for their exceptional compassion.
