Nancy Dayton, 78, a devoted mother, grandmother, and woman of immense faith, passed away peacefully on April 7, 2026, after a long courageous battle with illness. Born in New York City on September 1, 1947, Nancy lived a life marked by deep spiritual commitment and a loving devotion to her family and church community.

Nancy was a longstanding member of the Assemblies of the Lord Jesus Christ, where her faith was not only a personal anchor but also a guiding light for many. As a co-founder of the Apostolic Lighthouse Church, she played a pivotal role in shaping a vibrant spiritual home for countless individuals. Her dedication extended beyond founding the church; she was a passionate organizer and leader of Bible studies, children’s ministries, and served as a cherished choir leader. These roles were a testament to her unwavering commitment to nurturing faith and fellowship.

Family was at the heart of Nancy’s life. She shared 61 years of marriage with her beloved husband, Eugene Dayton, who survives her. Their partnership was a source of strength and joy throughout her life. Nancy is also lovingly remembered by her son, Eugene Dayton Jr., and his companion, Lori Mankowski; her daughter, Dawn Marie Newton, and her husband, Dan; as well as her grandchildren Jason, Samantha (Joe), Hannah, and Jordan (Hannah), and her great-grandchildren Jonah, Giada, and Micah. She also leaves behind her brother, Benjamin Oyola, and sister, Diana Alicia; Nieces and extended family in Puerto Rico.

Outside of her spiritual and family commitments, Nancy possessed a unique and charming array of interests. She enjoyed watching the Food Network, whose culinary inspirations frequently led her to purchase new cooking appliances—many of which remained unused, quietly reflecting her love of shopping. Her love for decorating was expressed through her collection of antiques and formal Victorian pieces, with a special appreciation for the whimsical style of MacKenzie-Childs.

Nancy Dayton’s legacy is woven from her steadfast faith, her remarkable contributions to her church community, and the enduring love she shared with her family. Her presence will be deeply missed, yet her spirit will continue to inspire those who had the privilege of knowing her.

Her life will be honored on Saturday, April 18, 2026 at 10:00 at Apostolic Lighthouse Church, 3160 Seneca Turnpike (NY 5), Canastota, NY 13032, a private family burial to follow at Oakwood Cemetery, Chittenango NY.

I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith.
