Nicholas Dadabo, a devoted public servant, loving family man, and treasured friend, passed away on March 19, 2026. Born on September 2, 1936, Nicholas lived a life marked by dedication, kindness, and a commitment to his community that touched many lives.
Nicholas proudly served as a member of the U.S. Navy, where he was stationed aboard the USS Frank E. Evens during the important Project Wigwam. Following his military service, he pursued higher education and graduated from Tampa University with a bachelor’s degree, laying the foundation for a career defined by loyalty and leadership.
For 20 years, Nicholas served with distinction as an officer in the Syracuse Police Department. His commitment extended beyond his duties on the force, as he held the esteemed position of president of the Fraternal Order of Police (FOP) for 13 years. Under his guidance, the FOP flourished, and he notably organized the FOP golf tournament for many years—a reflection of his deep passion for golf and his love of the camaraderie found at the game’s famed 19th hole.
He was a man who made friends wherever he went, always ready to lend a helping hand and offer his support to those in need. Nicholas enjoyed spending time in Florida annually, cherishing these visits as moments of relaxation and connection. At home, he delighted in hosting family dinners and going out to dinner with friends. His participation in numerous fundraisers revealed his generous spirit and commitment to giving back.
Nicholas’s family was his pride and joy. He was blessed with a devoted wife of 50 years, Patti Dadabo, who stood by his side through life’s many journeys. Together, they raised a loving family including sons Scott, Ronald (Christine), Richard (Jamie), and Robert; and a daughter, Tina (Catlin). He also enjoyed the laughter and love of six grandchildren. His sisters, Susan Gold and Ellen Gold, shared in his life’s joys and sorrows.
Nicholas’s parents, Frank and Virginia Dadabo, as well as his son James Richard, preceded him in death.
Those who knew Nicholas remember a man proud of the way his children cared for him, a testament to the close-knit bonds of his family. His legacy of service, friendship, and kindness will be fondly remembered by all who had the honor to know him.
A visitation to celebrate Nicholas’s life will be held from 11:00 AM to 2:00 PM on March 26, 2026, at Northside Church, 7965 Oswego Road, Liverpool, NY 13090. The funeral service will follow at 2:00 PM at Northside Baptist Church, located at the same address.
