Paul A. VanDerveer

Paul A. VanDerveer, born on May 7, 1928, in Syracuse, NY, passed away peacefully on July 18, 2026, at the New York State Veterans Home in Oxford, NY.

Throughout his 98 years, Paul embodied integrity, quiet strength, and devotion to those he loved. His life, which began and concluded in the heart of New York State, was marked by a steadfast character and a commitment to values that endeared him to all who had the privilege of knowing him.

Paul’s legacy endures through his daughter Cathy Wachob, son, Craig VanDerveer (Richard) , 2 grandchildren, Rebecca Lynn (Darnell Dow), Jennifer Marie and 4 great grandchildren.

He was predeceased by his beloved wife Dorothy VanDerveer, his brother Robert VanDerveer and his best friend and companion Jazz.

Those who mourn his loss reflect on Paul’s steady presence, his kindness, and his unwavering dedication. He carried himself with dignity and humility throughout his long life, leaving an indelible impression on family, friends, and all who crossed his path.

Family and friends are invited to gather in Paul’s memory during the visitation, to be held on Friday, July 24, 2026, from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m., at New Comer Cremations & Funerals, 705 N Main St, Syracuse, NY 13212.  Services will be at 11am at the funeral home. This time of remembrance will offer an opportunity to pay respects, share cherished memories, and celebrate the fullness of his remarkable journey.

Paul A. VanDerveer will be remembered with deep affection and respect. His memory will remain a source of comfort and inspiration to those who loved him.
