Phoebe B. Clement

Phoebe (Brainard,Wright) Clement, 93, of Clay, NY, passed away on October 16, 2025. She was born to Claude and Genevieve Brainard, the youngest of 11 children, all deceased. 

She was a graduate of Owego Free Academy, Owego, NY in 1949, with secretarial skills which she used periodically during her adult life. She was an avid reader, but her first love was her hometown. This progressed into 66 years as organist/choir director in many different churches and states. She was active in high school music activities as accompanist and choirs, solos and assemblies. She entertained at private parties. She taught piano and organ for 25 years and provided music for funeral homes in Syracuse for years. She was most recently the Music Director at the former Andrews Memorial United Methodist Church in North Syracuse, retiring in 2009. 

Phoebe married her high school beau, James Wright (deceased) in 1951, and they had three children, Ronald (Maryanne, deceased) Christi (Abie) of California and Robert (Susan) of Baldwinsville. In 2010, she married Warren Clement and moved to Clay, NY.

She is survived by her husband, Warren Clement, and her three children, Ronald Wright, Christi Sohrabi and Robert Wright. She is also survived by Warren's children, William E. Clement (Cindi), Debra Hayes (John), and David Clement (Aino Parlo). Additionally she was survived by 13 grandchildren and 21 great grandchildren.

Visitation will be held on Saturday, October 25, 2025 from 11am-12pm at New Comer Cremations & Funerals, 705 N. Main St., N. Syracuse, with a service at 12pm.

Burial will be in her hometown of Owego, NY at a later date.
