Richard J. Alt

Richard J. Alt, a beloved husband, father and grandfather, passed away on October 23, 2025, at the age of 89. Born on September 2, 1936, in Syracuse, NY, Richard dedicated much of his life to both his family and his career.

Following high school graduation, Richard was employed for 30 years at Western Electric, where he served as a supervisor, retiring at the age of 55. In addition to his professional achievements, he was a proud veteran, having served in the United States Army from 1955 to 1957.

Outside of his career and military service, he found joy in farming and his passion for tractors. He also shared a special bond with his dog, Riley, who brought him companionship and happiness.

Richard is survived by his children, Richard "Rick" M. (Paula) Alt and Robert "Bob" W. Alt; and his beloved grandchildren, Laura Alt, Jack Alt, Vanessa Alt, and Ashlyn Caputo.

He was preceded in death by his late wives, Loretta Alt and Susan Alt; his step-sons, David and Scott Drummond; step-grandson, Marcus Drummond; his parents, William and Mildred Fay Alt; and his siblings, Don Alt, Mary Winters and Alice Brown.

Calling hours will be held on November 3, 2025, from 10-12:00PM at New Comer Cremations & Funerals, North Syracuse. The burial will immediately follow at Pine Plains Cemetery, Clay. Friends and family are invited to pay their respects and celebrate Richard’s remarkable life. He leaves behind a legacy of dedication, love, and resilience that will continue to inspire those who knew him.
