Richard "Rick" W. Hoyer, Jr., age 62, passed away on November 9, 2025, in Syracuse, New York, after a lengthy illness. Born on March 9, 1963, in Cuba, New York, Rick’s life was marked by his dedication to his family, work, and his deep compassion for others.
Rick built a notable career as a truck driver, delivering goods for several trucking companies, including over 20 years at AAK Enterprises. His work ethic was commendable, and he took great pride in the responsibilities that came with his profession.
Rick's education began at Fowler High School and extended to the National Tractor Trailer School, where he honed the skills that would serve him throughout his trucking career. His journey through life was characterized by the good heart he possessed. Those who knew him remember his compassionate nature, especially his love for animals. He cherished his dogs, Marlee and Buddy, who brought much joy into his life.
Rick is survived by his father, Richard W. (Marleen) Hoyer; two sons, Brad and Joshua Hoyer; a sister, Melanie Hoyer; a brother, David Hoyer; a granddaughter, Elinor Hoyer; and a nephew, Dan Hoyer. He was preceded in death by his mother, Carole Hoyer.
As we remember Rick, we reflect on the warmth he shared, the kindness he embodied, and the memories that will forever remain in the hearts of those who loved him. His legacy of compassion and dedication will continue to inspire all who were fortunate to know him.
