Richard S. "Rich" Mech, 72, of Cicero, passed away on Sunday at St. Joseph's Hospital with his family. He was born on October 12, 1940 in Syracuse, son of Stanley and Mary Mech. Rich was a master carpenter for nearly 50 years owning his own business. Rich enjoyed going to SU games, bowling, gardening and he raised pigeons. Rich also enjoyed the NYS Fair and spending time with his whole family.
He was predeceased by his son, John Mech, 2 sisters, Mildred & Katie, 2 brothers, Leonard & Chet Mech, along with his step daughter, Lisa L'Huillier.
Surviving are his wife of 33 years, G. Annette, sister, Esther Wood, son, Kevin, daughter, Michelle Babcock, stepson, Robert (Collette) Ricks, 2 step daughters, Laurie (Garry) DeGonza, Dianna Ricks, Grandson; Justin Lent 11 grandchildren, 4 great grandchildren, nieces & nephews and in-laws.
Calling hours on Thursday from 4-7pm at New Comer Funeral Home, 705 N. Main St., North Syracuse. Services will be held on Friday 10am at the funeral home. Burial will take place in North Syracuse Cemetery.
