Robert A. Taylor, a beloved father, grandfather, and friend, passed away on August 21, 2025, at Waukesha Memorial Hospital in Waukesha WI at the age of 93. He resided in Syracuse, NY for over 60 years. Born on January 27, 1932, in South Charleston, WV, Robert was a man of integrity and dedication, who always put others before himself.
He enjoyed a long and distinguished career with General Electric in their radar division, where he had the opportunity to travel to countless countries. He proudly served in the United States Air Force after graduating high school, where he earned an honorable discharge. His military service instilled in him a sense of discipline and commitment that he carried into all facets of his life, including, earning his master's degree.
In addition to his professional accomplishments, Robert had various hobbies that sparked joy in his life. He enjoyed photography, building model airplanes, and creating intricate wooden trains. His love for craftsmanship extended to stained glass lamps and woodworking.
Robert was a long-term member of Bellewood Baptist Church in North Syracuse, where he served as a Deacon for many years and was actively involved as a Sunday School teacher. His contributions to his church community reflected his deep faith.
He is survived by his three children, Robert (Shamim) Taylor II, Kelly (Joseph Scharick) Taylor and Terry Taylor; along with seven grandchildren.
Robert was predeceased by his devoted wife of 75 years, Betty Taylor; his parents, James and Marie Taylor; and his brother, James Taylor II.
Calling hours will be held on Thursday, September 11, 2025 from 12:30PM to 2PM at New Comer Cremations & Funerals. A funeral service will follow at 3pm at Bellewood Baptist Church. A graveside service will be held on September 12, 2025, at 11:00 AM at North Syracuse Cemetery, North Syracuse.
Robert leaves behind a legacy of kindness, service, and love that will be remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
