Robert A. Levin, known as Bob, passed away peacefully on April 27, 2026, at Upstate University Hospital in Syracuse, surrounded by his loving family. Born on September 16, 1957, in Brooklyn, NY, Bob created a life in upstate New York.
Bob graduated from SUNY Oswego in 1979. He then built a career at the New York State Insurance Fund, where he served diligently for over three decades. His professional life was characterized by a strong commitment to excellence and integrity.
Beyond his career, Bob was a man of varied interests and passions. A devoted fan of the Grateful Dead, he found joy and connection through their music. Additionally, his enthusiasm for the New York Yankees was well known among friends and family, reflecting a spirited love for baseball.
Bob's personal life was rich and fulfilling. He is lovingly survived by his wife, Roseann Levin, his two sons, Justin Levin (and his wife Christina), and Zachary Levin (and his wife Emily), and his step-daughter Amelia Beamish. He enjoyed spending time with his granddaughters, Eleanor and Sylvia, who brought him immense pride and happiness. Bob is also survived by his brother David Levin, sister Laurie Katz (and her husband Jeff), and his aunt Muriel Mandell who was a source of mutual support and affection throughout his life. He is also remembered fondly by numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
A celebration of life will be held at the convenience of the family.
