Robert C. Mayers Jr., also known as "JJ," passed away peacefully on January 25, 2026, in Syracuse, NY, surrounded by his loving family. Born on August 17, 1954, in Oneida, NY, Robert was a dedicated family man and a successful entrepreneur whose contributions to his community will be long remembered.
A graduate of Chittenango High School, class of 1972, Robert furthered his education by earning an Associate's Degree at Morrisville College. His career as the owner and operator of Bob Mayers Custom Builder spanned over three decades, retiring in 2019. Throughout this time, he also served as a contractor and a builder.
Robert had a deep-seated passion for drag racing, frequently participating at ESTA Speedway, where he showcased his love for speed. One of his proudest accomplishments came in 2013, when he won the prestigious drag racing trophy known as "Wally" with his 20-7T Roadster. In addition to racing, Robert was a loyal New York Giants fan and enjoyed playing golf. Music was also a significant part of his life, with a special affinity for Rock & Roll.
He leaves behind his wife of 27 years, Amy Mayers; children, Kristal Hubbs of Canandaigua, Robert C. Mayers III, and Brandon G. Mayers of Virginia; one grandchild, Remedi Rose Stover; two sisters, Jean and Lynn; as well as two nieces and two nephews.
Robert C. Mayers Jr. is predeceased by his father, Robert C. Mayers Sr. and his mother, Naiomi Mayers Burns.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, February 7, 2026 at 10AM at Immaculate Conception Church, Fayetteville, NY. A Celebration of Life will be held on Sunday, February 8, 2026 from 1-4PM at the American Legion Chittenango, 707 Legion Dr., Chittenango, NY 13037.
