Roger Thomas Williams, born on August 15, 1941, in Birmingham, England, passed away peacefully at home in North Syracuse on October 27, 2025. He lived a life marked by dedication and love, leaving behind cherished memories and an enduring legacy.
Roger began his professional journey in Data Processing at Syracuse Savings Bank, where his remarkable career spanned several mergers. He served the banking community with great commitment, culminating in his retirement as Senior Research Manager from Fleet Bank in 2003. His educational foundation was established at Liverpool High School, followed by further studies at Onondaga Community College and various courses that complemented his career in banking. He was a US Army Veteran.
Beyond his professional achievements, Roger was known for his vibrant personality. Described as a wonderful husband, father, and friend, he was celebrated for his quick wit and infectious sense of humor, often sharing a good joke that could lighten any room. He was a devoted family man who relished spending time with his grandchildren. In his retirement, Roger, along with his wife Carol, took immense joy in organizing day trips to local parks, museums, and other outings for them, fostering a love of exploration and adventure.
Roger also actively contributed to his community by coaching little league, imparting not only the skills of the game but also values of teamwork and perseverance to the young athletes he guided. His hobbies included a keen interest in jigsaw puzzles and crossword puzzles, and he had a passion for golfing, with bowling and softball also being favorite pastimes.
Roger is survived by his loving wife, Carol A. Williams; his children, Melinda (Robert) Moran, Lisa Prusinowski (Dan), and Jon Williams (Michelle); his grandchildren, Nicholas, Maggie, Jacob, Jay and Emiley (Colton and Lyla); his sister, Barbara Fahey of Florida; and his niece, Carol Weber, along with many more nieces and nephews who will remember him fondly.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Thomas and Doris Williams; his brother, John Williams; and his sister, Margaret Rockwell.
Roger Thomas Williams' kindness, humor, and unwavering commitment to family and community will be deeply missed. His memory will continue to inspire those who knew him.
