Ronald Charles Dunn, born on December 4, 1942, in Hornell, NY, passed away peacefully on October 8, 2025, in Syracuse, NY. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and a respected member of his community.
Ronald received his early education in Hornell and graduated from Dansville Central High School, where he was actively involved in various sports. He furthered his education at Winona State College. Ronald served in the United States Army from 1963 to 1965, where he held the rank of Specialist 5th Class. He lived briefly in Auburn before spending nine years in Owego and eventually settling in the Syracuse area.
His career in the grocery business began while he was a student at Dansville A&P. He spent more than three decades his professional life with P&C Foods and Penn Traffic in Syracuse, where he retired after 32 years of service. His work ethic and dedication to his career were commendable.
His passion for community involvement was reflected in his active roles with several organizations, including the Owego Boys Club and the Owego Boy Scouts. He was a proud member of Phoenix Lodge 115 in Dansville, the Corning Scottish Rite, Dansville Union Hose, the Baldwinsville American Legion, Phoenix Veterans of Foreign Wars, and the Liverpool Elks Club.
Ronald had a love for travel, often exploring faraway places (China, Hawaii, Aruba, Europe) with his beloved wife, Carol. Together, they made cherished memories, especially during summers spent on Conesus Lake, and enjoyed their home on the scenic Oneida River. His granddaughters, Lauralee and Caroline, were his pride and joy, regarded by him as the true lights of his life.
Ronald is survived by his loving wife, Carol Richmond Dunn, whom he married on June 11, 1967, at the Dansville Presbyterian Church; son Christopher; granddaughters, Lauralee Morgan Dunn and Caroline Richmond Dunn; brother, David (Joanne) Dunn; daughter-in-law, Lynn Perestam Dunn; sister-in-law, Yancy Dunn; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his daughter, Erica; parents Edwin and Dorothy Dunn; and siblings James Dunn, Carol Hartson, Dorothy Lisi, and Geraldine Clark.
A graveside service will be held at Union Cemetery, Scottsburg NY at 11:00 am on Saturday, November 1st followed by a reception.
Ronald Charles Dunn will be remembered for his unwavering love for his family, his commitment to his community, and the countless lives he touched throughout his years. His legacy will continue through the memories shared by those who knew and loved him.
