Ronald J. Lambrych, of Cicero, passed away at 85 on April 22, 2025.
Ron was born in Syracuse, New York, on May 23, 1939, to Zygmund and Philomena Lambrych. In his early years, he served with honor in the U.S. Navy. He then spent 35 years as a firefighter captain with the Syracuse Fire Department, bravely protecting his community.
Off duty, Ron found peace on the water. Sailing was his sanctuary - from calm lakes to open seas, he was never happier than when the wind filled his sails.
Following his retirement, he shared his time with his many friends and family. Always quick with a joke or story, Ron’s home was the joyful center of many family festivities, and there was rarely a day that he did not spend with one of his grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by father, Zygmund J. Lambrych; mother, Philomena D. Lambrych; and brother, Paul Z.
He is survived by his Wife of 38 years, Mary Ilacqua, as well as his two sons; David (Traci Decd) Lambrych and Kevin (Lori) Lambrych. Also surviving are his seven grandchildren; Matthew (Megan) Lambrych, Grace Lambrych, Eli Lambrych, Jacob Lambrych, Olive Lambrych, Alex (Rae) Burton, Evelyn Burton, and great-grandchild, Milo Burton. He taught us all courage, compassion, and how to tie a perfect bowline.
Family and friends may call on Ronald Lambrych from 10am to 12pm on May 2, 2025 at New Comer Funeral Home, 705 N Main St, Syracuse, NY. With Navy Honors to follow.
