With profound respect and heartfelt sorrow, we announce the passing of Scott Jeffrey Greenwood, who left this world on May 3, 2026, at his home in Clay, New York. Born on October 1, 1955, in Jordan, New York, Scott was a man characterized by his loving, caring, and sincere nature, qualities that earned him deep admiration and affection from all who knew him.
Scott was a proud and honorable veteran, having served in the U.S. Marine Corps with distinction until his honorable discharge. His commitment to service reflected the strength and integrity he carried throughout his life.
A devoted family man, Scott’s greatest joys were found in his family and faith. He was a devoted husband to his beloved wife, Sonia Greenwood, and a cherished father to his children Anttonie, Brenda, and Marylene. His love extended further to his grandchildren—Anttonie Jr., Madison, Soliana, Teagan, Edward III, Elaina, and Alexa—who brought immense happiness to his later years. He also treasured the companionship and support of his mother, Geraldine Greenwood, and his brothers and sisters: Greg (Maryleen) Greenwood, Mark (Patti) Greenwood, Gaylene Greenwood, and Brent Greenwood. Scott was also surrounded by many loving nieces and nephews, whose lives he touched profoundly. He was preceded in death by his father, Thomas Greenwood.
Scott’s life was enriched by simple yet deeply meaningful pastimes: watching football, reading his Bible, and spending time in prayer. These pursuits reflected the peaceful and reflective spirit he embodied and offered insight into the values he lived by.
Visitation will be held to honor Scott’s memory on May 9, 2026, from 12:00 noon to 3:00 p.m. at New Comer Cremations & Funerals, located at 705 N Main St, Syracuse, NY 13212. Following visitation, a funeral service will begin at 3:00 p.m. and conclude at 4:00 p.m. at the same location, providing all an opportunity to celebrate the life of a truly admirable and beloved man.
Scott Jeffrey Greenwood will be deeply missed but fondly remembered for his unwavering kindness, steadfast faith, and the love he so freely gave. His legacy endures in the hearts of his family, friends, and all who had the privilege to know him.
