Sharon A. Horton-Freeman, 84, of Syracuse, passed away September 15, 2025. Sharon was born in Massena, New York on February 2, 1941 to Francis and Helen Smith.
Sharon grew up in Massena, NY. She and her siblings helped their parents run the family owned motel, Motel Oral and Seaway Campground. Sharon decided to move to Syracuse, NY in 1963 with her toddler son to find her own way. She started working for the Employment Office, then went on to work for General Electric (GE). She heard General Motors (GM) had a position and took the leap to work for them. After 20 years of line work for GM she retired. In her free time, she enjoyed reading, loved to talk on the phone to her sister, Marion, and her special niece, Jennifer, in Florida. Sharon was a social butterfly, gave the best hugs, loved going to church, was a prayer warrior, and a member of the Neighborhood Watch for many years.
She was preceded in death by Father, Francis Smith; Mother, Helen Smith; Brothers, Lawrence, Gerald, and Phillip Smith; and Nephew, Ryan McNeill.
She is survived by her Husband, Johnnie Freeman; Son, William (Anne) DeCarr; Grandchild, Rosalie Pollack (James Mills); Great-Grandchildren, William Mills, Jonathan Mills, Averi Anderson; Step-Children, John Thomas, Genesis, John, Matthew, and Amanda Freeman; several Step-Grandchildren; Siblings, Marion McNeill; Niece and Special Girl, Jennifer McNeill; 6 Nephews; Cousins; and Many Friends.
Family and friends may call on Sunday, September 28, 2025 from 3:00 pm-5:00 pm at Grace Baptist Church, 423 Valley Drive, Syracuse, NY 13205, where funeral services will be held Sunday at 5:00 pm with Pastor Lou officiating.
