Sharon L. Michels

Sharon Lynn Michels of Syracuse, New York, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, February 10, 2026, at age 79. Born to Madonna Opal Wright and Francis Michels in Syracuse, NY on December 5, 1946, she was the youngest of her siblings Barbara and David.

Sharon attended Fisher Junior College in Boston, Massachusetts, where she majored in International Studies. In 1966, she graduated with a degree in Science. From there, Sharon went on to work for the Central Intelligence Agency in McLean, Virginia. This was just the beginning of her distinguished career. Sharon worked for the United States government for over 40 years, primarily with the U.S. Department of the Interior, where she worked as an Executive Secretary in Financial Management Services, the Office of Acquisition and Property Management and in the Division of Fiscal Services. Throughout her time, she received over a dozen performance awards and lead a strong and successful career as an Administrative Officer.

Outside of her dedication to her career, Sharon loved spending time with her friends, family, and her animals. She was a devoted family member, supportive friend and a beacon of compassion, kindness and generosity. She spent her free time “window shopping,” traveling, visiting historical sites and enjoying a good book.

Sharon is survived by her two nieces, Julia Virginia and Teresa Rose; great nieces and nephews and great-grand nieces and nephews.

Per her request, there will be no services.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to be made to the Humane Society or the SPCA.
