Shelby Justin Markes

Shelby J. Markes, 45, of Syracuse, NY passed away on November 1, 2023.

He was born in Syracuse, NY to the late Janet and Shelby Markes.

Shelby served in the United States Marine Corps for 8 years. After his service in the Marines, Shelby worked as a self-employed carpenter. He loved spending time with his family and friends, enjoyed a good burger at the Blarney and having his nephews over for sleepovers.

Shelby also loved and cherished his three dogs, Jameson (who has passed) and surviving, Apollo and Doodoo.

Shelby is survived by his siblings, Eric (Jenny), Shelly (Jamie), Brandy (Emel), Shannon, Erin (Anthony), and Shawn; many nieces and nephews; as well as great nieces and nephews.

Calling hours will be held on Friday, November 17th from 4-7pm at New Comer Cremations & Funerals, 705 N Main Street, N. Syracuse, NY. Burial will take place on Tuesday, November 21st at 11:00am in the Onondaga County Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 4069 Howlett Hill Road, Syracuse, NY 13215.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, November 18th from 2-5pm at the Valley American Legion, 110 Academy Street, Syracuse, NY.
