Sue Anne Smith, born on May 21, 1938, passed away peacefully on July 14, 2026, leaving behind a loving legacy and cherished memories in the hearts of her family, friends, and all who knew her.
Throughout her life, Sue was passionately devoted to her family, always placing them at the center of her world. She found true happiness in hosting and planning family reunions at her home. Sue’s door was always open, and her warmth created an inviting space for family and friends to come together.
Sue’s love extended beyond her immediate family—she was also a steadfast, caring presence for her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, treasuring her role as grandmother and great-grandmother. Whether playing card games or watching TV shows with her grandchildren, Sue was happiest surrounded by those she loved, sharing countless comforting moments over the years. Her dog, Myles, was also a beloved companion.
Sue was a devoted member of the North Syracuse Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses for over 50 years. Her commitment to Jehovah and her congregation was unwavering, and she exemplified His values in her daily life.
Sue had a fondness and love of travel and enjoyed staying at the family camp in Star Lake, NY. These trips became treasured opportunities for togetherness, allowing Sue to create memories alongside her family and friends.
Sue is survived by her loving daughters, Belinda Smith and Krista (Jack) Rushford; her adoring grandchildren, Chelsey (Zack) Rushford, Kierra Kairis, and John Race; her great-grandchildren, Damien and Payton Palmowski; her brother, Butch (Sandy) Remington; and her sisters-in-law, Esther, and Carol Remington. She also leaves behind numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins who will forever hold her in their hearts.
She looked forward to the resurrection to be with her husband of 47 years, George E. Smith Jr.; her parents, William and Violet Remington; her brothers, Billy and Jimmy Remington; and her sister, Maryjane Zinn, all of whom predeceased her.
Sue Anne Smith’s legacy will be remembered in the laughter and kindness she fostered, the faith she so earnestly lived, and the abiding love she gave to her family and friends. Those who knew her will always remember her patience, generosity, and the joy she found in the simple pleasures of life and family.
Her memory will be cherished and kept alive by those who loved her, now and for generations to come.
