It is with great sadness that the family of Victor Edward Sozzi announces his sudden passing on Friday, September 18, 2026, at the age of 81. His life was defined by an extraordinary work ethic, quiet strength, and an unwavering devotion to the family he loved above all else.
Born in the Bronx, New York, Vic grew up in Peekskill, where his remarkable artistic talent became evident from an early age. After graduating from high school, he attended the New York School of the Arts in New York City, where he further developed his natural creativity and love of art. He was immensely proud to have his work displayed at the Everson Museum of Art, as well as in other museums and art shows throughout the years. Perhaps even more meaningful, many of his original works remain treasured by family and friends, who proudly display them in their homes. A lasting reflection of his creativity and a special piece of Vic that will live on for generations.
Vic spent many years as a welding foreman for General Electric before later working for Feldmeier in Syracuse, where he eventually retired. He was a remarkably skilled craftsman who could build and repair just about anything. To his family, there was simply nothing Dad couldn't fix.
He was one of the most dedicated and hardworking men you could ever know, but what mattered most to Vic was never his work, it was his family. He lived for his beloved wife, Jane, his daughters, grandchildren, and great-granddaughters. Everything he did was rooted in taking care of the people he loved. Vic married the love of his life, Jane Elizabeth Turner, on October 24, 1964. Together, they built a beautiful life and family and celebrated an extraordinary 61 years of marriage. Jane was the center of Vic's world. Following her passing on November 19, 2025, he carried with him the tremendous love they had shared throughout their lifetime together. There is comfort in knowing that after 61 years side by side, Vic and Jane are together once again.
Vic will be lovingly remembered by his three daughters, Margaret (John) Lerner, Kathleen Sozzi, and Kristen (Patrick) Penfield; his five adored grandchildren, Kristen Elizabeth (Christopher) Phelps, Catherine Jane Lerner (Alec Henderson), Patrick Fitzgerald Penfield, Kerry Clare Lerner, and Julia Hayden Penfield; and his great-granddaughters, Emma Jane Phelps and Ava Catherine Phelps.
He was predeceased by his beloved wife, Jane Elizabeth (Turner) Sozzi.
Vic's family will remember him for what he built over a lifetime: a family grounded in love. His hands were rarely still, his love was constant, and the example he set will remain with his family for generations.
A private service will be held for the family.
