William Joseph King

October 21, 1962 — July 12, 2024

William Joseph King, 61 of Constantia, NY passed away Friday, July 12, 2024 from a long and courageous battle of cancer.

Our hearts are broken with the passing of this precious man of God who was faithful to his Lord and Savior, family and friends. Bill was born on October 21,1962 in Syracuse NY to William and Sharon King who have both predeceased Bill.

Bill graduated from Paul V. Moore High School in Central Square in 1980. He then put himself through college at Onondaga Community College. He graduated with high honors in Math & Science with a minor in Computers. Bill started out in the power control room at Nine Mile after graduating from college in 1982. He then applied to Niagara Mohawk and got accepted as an IT Specialist. National Grid took over Niagara Mohawk and kept their employees. Bill has worked his entire career, spanning 42 years as a Senior IT Analyst. He worked all the way up to his passing. He was beyond dedicated. Everyone loved working with Bill. Bill loved Mustangs. He has always owned one. He loved going to Classic car shows every summer. Bill also loved snowmobiling. He and his wife put thousands of miles on their sleds.

He was an avid NY Mets fan as well as a NY Ranger fan. Bill and Tammy loved to travel all over the United States. They drove cross country and visited all but 6 states. Bill's knowledge of Classic Rock music was vast. He literally knew every band and song from the 60's - 70's. It was amazing to listen to him talk about music. His favorite band of all time was The Allman Brothers. Bill and his wife went to hundreds of concerts throughout the years. Above all, Bill loved the Lord and served him with joy. He had many ministries in his Christian life, but his favorite was teaching young children. It was inspiring to him when those children, now adults, came to tell him how pivotal he was in their own walk with Christ. Bill’s hunger for God's word had him reading and studying his Bible daily. He particularly loved the small group that met in their home weekly as he taught through Psalms. Bill’s Godly example has resonated throughout his life and is a true testament to who he became when he dedicated his life to the Lord. One of his favorite verses was Proverbs 3:5-6 “Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; In all your ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct your paths.”

Bill is survived by his beloved wife Tammy. His daughters, Kim (Robert) Vidal, Liz King, Kate (Jon) Cliver and Lily Hohmann. His grandchildren, Mary Vidal, Sarah Grace and Peter Israel Cliver. His mother and father-in-law, Bob and Cherie Campbell. His brothers, Michael (Kirstin) King, Matt and Joe (Loretta) Campbell. His nephews and nieces: Jake, Allie, Liz, Zach, Deliah, Michael and Jarrod. Also, Mike and Louise Herbert who have always been a second set of parents to him ever since he met their son Dave at 5 years old. He always considered Dave his brother. His lifelong friend Bruce Henry was also considered as a brother to Bill. And to the Godly men from Calvary Chapel Greece and Syracuse, you band of brothers meant everything to Bill.

Friends and family may call on Friday, July 19, 2024 from 2pm - 8pm at New Comer Cremations & Funerals, 705 N. Main Street, North Syracuse. A celebration of Bill’s life will be held at Calvary Chapel Syracuse, 103 Grampian Road, Liverpool NY on Saturday July 20, 2024 at 1pm . We encourage all to attend to honor a man who lived his life for everyone around him.

Tammy would also like to take a moment to give her thanks and gratitude to the team at Hospice, who helped her navigate through such a heartbreaking task of losing her husband. A special thanks to his nurse Sue C. She was a loving, wonderful woman who made sure Bill was always comfortable. We will never forget the love and support we received.

Lastly, we take great comfort in this piece of scripture, knowing that Bill has been fully restored in body and mind as he entered into God’s presence: 1 Peter 5:10 “And after you have suffered a little while, the God of all grace, who has called you to his eternal glory in Christ, will himself restore, confirm, strengthen, and establish you.”
