Kenneth R. McQuade, Sr.
April 15, 2015

Kenneth R. McQuade, Sr, passed away on Wednesday at the age of 82 at Crown Center Nursing & Rahabilitation. He was born in Eagle Lake, ME on December 7, 1932, oldest son of the late Frederick and Lucy (Tardie) McQuade. Ken was an all round carpenter, electrician and handyman having built his 2,800 sq. ft. house in Chittenango, NY during the late 80’s. After serving in the Army Corps of Engineers in Germany, he married Corinne and settled on Long Island. His ensuing career included the Pinkerton National Detective Agency, Republic Aviation and Grumman Aircraft Engineering (working on the LEM). In the late 60’s they relocated to the Syracuse area where he worked for J & M Schaefer Industrial Sales and then began his own business in 1984, KRM Associates and later Mod Tech Supply, Inc. Ken was never bored spending extensive time studying medical herbs or working on something mechanical while endlessly remodeling his home and the homes of any family member who asked for an extra hand. His steady hand and willingness to help anyone in need will be greatly missed.

Ken is survived by his wife, Corinne (Carmody) McQuade of 58 years, his children; Kenneth, Jr. (Joan) McQuade, Rhonda (Jim) Spoelstra, Andre (Stephanie) McQuade, 10 grandchildren; Melinda, Gregory and Donald Harris; Heather, Joshua & Kenneth McQuade, Marie, Kathryn & Joseph Spoelstra; and Liam McQuade, his brothers, Franklin McQuade, Naples, FL and Ronald McQuade, East Weymouth, MA. Ken is predeceased by his first born daughter Helene Harris and his siblings, Nancy Sarlo, Frederick McQuade and Shirley Tapley.

Calling hours will be held on Monday from 4-7pm at New Comer Funeral Home, 705 N. Main St., North Syracuse, with services to follow. Burial will take place at St Patrick’s Cemetery, Chittenango, at the convenience of the family.
