Laurie J. McGraw, 57, passed away Thursday, unexpectedly, at home.

Laurie was born in Syracuse, the daughter of Robert and Carol Ann Sparrow.

Laurie graduated from Jamesville-DeWitt High School and from St. Joseph’s School of Nursing. She was a Registered Nurse, who worked for many years in the medical field, and was a Certified Specialist in Poison Information at the Poison Control Center.

She was a dedicated “Aunt” who loved spending time with family. Although she didn’t always win, she loved her many trips to the casino.

Laurie is survived by her husband, Jeremy, of 30 years, sister, Deborah (Michael) Anguish, brothers, Robert (Mishelle) Sparrow, Andrew (Monica) Sparrow, several nieces, nephews, two aunts, and an uncle, along with her pets, Izzie & Minnie.

Calling hours will be held on Monday from 4 to 7 pm at New Comer Cremations & Funerals, 705 N. Main St, N. Syracuse A funeral service will be held on Tuesday at 10am at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Onondaga Valley Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made to American Cancer Society.
