In Memory Of
Floyd E. Humiston
1929 - 2019

Floyd died, as he lived, with strength, gentleness and dignity on April 12, 2019 after a brief illness.

He was born in Syracuse, NY, and spent most of his childhood and teenage years in New Woodstock and Sheds, NY, attending high school in Cazenovia.

Floyd enlisted in the US Army in 1947. During his 20 years of service, he was stationed in Paris working with NATO and served in the Korean War and Vietnam War in the intelligence field. Over the course of his career, he earned, and was decorated with, metals of commendation, service and the infantry badge, of which he was most proud. He was a proud, intelligent officer, and was honorably discharged as Major Floyd E. Humiston on July 31, 1967.

After serving in the Army, he was employed as production planner at Cambridge Filter in Liverpool.

Floyd’s memory will live on through the lives of his best friend and wife, Karen; children, Deborah (Bill Juby) Carney, David J. (Norma) Humiston and Larissa K. Humiston; grandchildren, Mike, Lindsay Anne, Donald, Cyndi, Onikka and Karen; siblings, Dolores A. (Ronnie) Hill, Thomas J. Humiston, Patricia (Edgar) House, Robert R. (Patricia) Humiston; many very special great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, extended family and devoted friends.

He was predeceased by his children, Donald R. Humiston, Katherine Bixby and Floyd Jeffrey Humiston, as well as two sisters, Marie Humiston and Betty Howell.

Please join us for a celebration of Floyd’s life on Saturday, April 20th, at New Comer Cremations & Funerals, 705 N. Main Street, North Syracuse, NY between 3 and 5pm. Military honors will take place at 5pm.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Humane Society of CNY, 4915 West Taft Rd., Liverpool, NY 13088, or to Disabled American Veterans.

We wish to thank the palliative care team and staff, in the medical ICU at Upstate Community General Hospital, for the compassionate care they provided at such a difficult time.
