In Memory Of
Clifton Alexander Gans, Jr.
1940 - 2020

Clifton A. Gans passed in peace, on Friday, July 10, 2020, at the age of 79, at the Francis House in Syracuse, NY after a long illness.

Clifton leaves his brother, Bruce Gans and sister, Linda (Gans) Hall, as well as five nephews and two nieces.

Born in Jersey City, NJ, the son of Clifton A. Gans, Sr. and Betty (Crampton) Gans, he also resided in Schenectady NY, Washington DC, Albany NY and finally, Syracuse NY where he lived for 32 years.

He briefly attended Onondaga Community College in Syracuse.

As a youth, Clifton was active in the Boy Scouts, where he achieved the rank of Eagle Scout. Throughout his life, Clifton had a strong interest in science and astronomy. In his later years, he enjoyed watching old science
fiction movies and using his telescope to stargaze.

Our family would like to appreciate the loving care provided to our brother.

While Clifton resided at the Bernadine Apartments at Loretto, the staff was caring, supportive and thoughtful. The staff commented on how kind and pleasant Clifton was to work with.

Under the care of Upstate University Hospital and the Cancer Center, with each visit, the care and kindness exceeded our expectations. St. Joseph’s Hospital and physicians, were always there for him, and just a short walk from his home.

It is sometimes amazing how much kindness can be had, even during a very short time. Our brother only stayed at the Francis House 4 days, but in that short time, we were able to visit our brother and spend the final moments of his life there. It touched our hearts that we were blessed with individualized care and kindness, that still brings tears to my eyes. This happened during COVID–19 when visitations to nursing homes were not permitted.

Thank you to all who helped us care and show our love for Clifton.

Services were private and were arranged by Newcomer Funeral Home. Donations in remembrance of Clifton can be made to the Francis House in Syracuse. www.francishouseny.org
