Deborah Hanczyk, 65, of Syracuse, passed away Wednesday, June 22, 2022. Deborah Hanczyk, the First of Her Name, Queen of the Desserts, Protector of the Monarch Butterflies, the Mother of Countless Rescue Animals, and the Khaleesi of Eastwood, was not a cancer survivor, but a cancer warrior. After a most valiant effort, she was finally defeated by her foe. She kept this part of her life private, as she didn't want to cause anyone any undue stress or pain. If this doesn't speak greatly of her character, I don't know what does. She had a heart of gold, and always put everyone's needs above her own. She had a great appreciation of the cinema, fishing, figure skating, tennis, and SU Basketball. Deborah took great joy in her volunteer work at the church and carrying on Polish family traditions. Those who knew her loved her; and those that loved her got to taste the best carrot cake and chocolate fudge this side of the Mississippi.

Deborah was predeceased by her mother, Joanne Argese. She is survived by her devoted husband, John Hanczyk, who stayed lovingly by her side until the end; her daughter, Krystal (Hanczyk) Turley, and son-in-law, Mark Turley; many cherished relatives, and her dear friends.

Visitation will be held at Newcomer Cremations & Funerals, 705 N. Main St., N. Syracuse on Wednesday June 29th from 9-11am, with a service at 11am at the funeral home. Burial will take place at St. Mary’s Cemetery, DeWitt.
